Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is Pilates different from going to the gym, yoga or other physical exercise activities?
A: Pilates works from the "powerhouse" - the abdominal and back muscles and radiates outwards from this core to all muscles in your body. This gives you a total body workout every time, instead of only working select muscle groups. This holistic approach improves overall fitness and engages the mind to work with your body to improve your overall physical and mental harmony.

Q: How long does a session or class last?

A: Typically one hour. Whether a One-on-One session or a mat class, you will experience deep strengthening and stretching exercises comfortably and powerfully without profusely sweating. This is due to the focused 'powerhouse' - abdominal and back muscle outward - style of the exercises.

Q: How long do I have to take Pilates classes for results?
A: Well, how often do you brush your teeth? Frequency and commitment are the key to lifelong fitness, however, you will see great results just getting started.

Generally you will see results within a minimum of 10 sessions. You will notice that your physical and mental fitness and stamina have improved and your muscles are overall tighter and more toned. In 20 sessions you will see a noticeable improvement in your muscle strength and stamina. Your waist will typically shape up as well. In 30 sessions you will have a 'whole new body.' This means you will see inches reduced in your abdominal area while significantly improving your overall physical fitness, physical tonality and more distinct and a more visually pleasing physical appearance.

Q. What should I wear to the session?
A. Comfortable clothing providing ease of movement is key. You will want to be mindful to wear clothing that will allow you to move in several different positions so leotard or exercise/workout attire is typically recommended.

Q. What should I bring to a session?
A. Water is the most important as well as a change of clothes, if necessary. Private changing areas are provided as well as cubbies for your personal belongings. Most importantly - a good attitude!!

Q. What types of classes do you offer?
A. We offer several classes at various skill levels. To learn more, click here...
